I Was Thrilled by CBS’ Blue Bloods Spinoff Tease – Here’s What’s Really Happening, According to a Reagan Family Member

Despite multiple TV cancellations in 2024, the loss of Blue Bloods still affects viewers hard. Excitement peaked earlier this year when CBS hinted at a possible spinoff during a Paramount investors meeting in June. CEO Brian Robbins stated a “extension” for Blue Bloods, which fueled talk about a spinoff or prequel.

Recently, cast member Abigail Hawk confirmed these discussions but tempered expectations, saying to Hello:

“There was talk of a spinoff happening. But if it did happen, so immediately after our series ends, it would have to be not involving the Reagans or the NYPD at all. It would have to be set in LA or we follow a different family.”

This is consistent with previous claims that a spinoff is further away than fans had hoped, either due to the original show’s sustained success on Friday evenings or CBS’ current concentration on extending franchises such as NCIS.

Donnie Wahlberg previously teased fans, saying “maybe something awesome will happen” post-Blue Bloods. If it does, it might resemble Suits: LA, focusing on a new family rather than the Reagans. Hawk emphasized the show’s universal appeal and enduring fan base, echoing sentiments shared by Tom Selleck and others about its legacy.

For now, fans can only hope CBS recognizes the value of Blue Bloods and its stories. Stay tuned for updates.
