Fans of ‘Blue Bloods’ Are Still Devastated by This Character’s Departure From the Show

Blue Bloods, the CBS procedural drama, follows the Reagan family, most of whom work in law enforcement. For 12 seasons, Tom Selleck has played family patriarch and police commissioner Frank Reagan, alongside his children: NYPD detective Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), assistant district attorney Erin (Bridget Moynahan), and NYPD sergeant Jamie (Will Estes). The show is known for its family dinner scenes tackling complex issues.

Blue Bloods, a steady Friday night hit for CBS, premiered its 13th season on October 7, 2022. While Frank, Danny, Erin, Jamie, and Frank’s father Henry (Len Cariou) are still main characters, other favorites have left over the years, leaving fans yearning for their return.

Linda Reagan’s D3ath Is Still Being Mourned By Fans

Amy Carlson portrayed Linda Reagan for seven seasons on Blue Bloods. As a nurse and the mother of Danny Reagan’s two sons, she brought a unique perspective to the Reagan family dynamic. After surviving a gunshot wound in Season 5, Linda tragically d1ed off-screen in a medivac helicopter crash between Seasons 7 and 8, leaving fans shocked and Danny deeply shaken.

Linda’s disappearance caused debate on the Blue Bloods subreddit, with fans missing her non-law enforcement viewpoint at the famed Sunday meals. “I miss having a non-cop opinion on things @ the table,” one user said, while others expressed frustration with her off-screen death and applauded her role in tempering Danny’s ferocity.

Amy Carlson Has Been Moved By The Reactions of Her Fans To Her Departure

Amy Carlson left Blue Bloods after her Season 7 contract expired. Speaking to Deadline, she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming fan support. “I can’t even tell you how many messages I get about her and the character,” she said.

Linda, Carlson said, appealed to fans because she was a unique non-law enforcement voice at the Reagan table. “She was sort of the everyman around the table,” she explained, adding that Linda’s relationship with Danny provided balance to his intensity. Carlson reflected on Linda’s off-screen death, saying, “I feel bad that she dies the way she dies,” wishing viewers could have seen her character’s farewell on-screen.
