For the past fourteen years, fans of NCIS: Los Angeles have relied on having Sunday nights to watch the show, but that is about to change.
The fan-favorite show, which was the first and longest-running spinoff of the long-running CBS series, will end on May 21st.
The police drama will conclude with a two-part finale, the first of which will air on May 14th, followed by a farewell special featuring cast interviews and plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the last fourteen years.
The cast has most certainly become like family after working together for over a decade, and in throwback photos from their very first years together, it appears to be an energy everyone has had from the start.
Chris O’Connell played G. Callen, LL Cool J played Sam Hanna, Linda Hunt played Hetty Lange, Daniela Ruah played Kensi Blye, and Barrett Foa played Eric Beale in the original cast. Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Kensi’s romantic counterpart Marty Deeks, appeared as a guest star at the end of season one before becoming a regular in season two.
There has been a lot that has happened in the fourteen years since it first aired, and not all of the cast members made it to the end, but those who did, and those who joined later on, have remained a true NCIS family.
In a promotional photo from over ten years ago, the original cast looks so young and excited about their new roles.
The entire cast celebrated the impending finale with a wrap party in Los Angeles, and seeing the before and after photos from their first years together to their final will undoubtedly make fans cry.
They’ll be able to relive the entire 14-year adventure of NCIS with the farewell special, A Salute to NCIS: Los Angeles. Kevin Frazier, who co-hosts Entertainment Tonight, will host the one-hour farewell special, which will air on May 21st at 10 p.m. EST. It will include both old and new interviews with cast members, as well as plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the previous 14 years.
The remaining cast attended a wrap party in Los Angeles to commemorate the show’s conclusion.
According to Variety, showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill reflected on the show’s impending conclusion, saying, “Wrapping up a series is always bittersweet.” We were blessed to have 14 seasons together, so bringing it to a satisfying end after so many years was extremely difficult.”
“Fortunately, CBS was gracious enough to give us an extra episode in order to send off our characters in a way that befits their stories, which hopefully the fans find both satisfying and hopeful,” he added.
