It Would Be So Nice If You Weren’t Here author Charles Grodin thanks NCIS star Michael Weatherly for the helpful advice detailed in his book.
Tony DiNozzo is no stranger to updating fans on his life via social media. Whether it’s teasing his character’s return to the hit cr1me drama NCIS or sharing personal details. Recently, the NCIS alum has given advice to young aspiring actors on what helped him in his own career.
For over a decade, the actor was best known for his role as agent Anthony DiNozzo in the television series NCIS.
Although the actor is not currently on-screen, he provides them with their Weatherly fix via social media posts and updates.
And, in a recent post about his long-running acting career, the star revealed something about an early influence on him.
Weatherly discussed the advice he received from fellow actor Charles Grodin’s book, It Would Be So Nice If You Weren’t Here, in a Tweet.
The actor also recently revealed on Twitter that he was heading to Changmai to begin an adventure in Thailand.
Weatherly also shared a photo of himself wearing sunglasses while posing in front of some tropical plants, which appears to be a selfie from his vacation.
Along with the photo, he wrote, “Hello. I read Charles Grodin’s book It Would Be So Nice If You Weren’t Here when I first started out as an actor.
“Excellent title. His advice to aspiring actors was to sit and observe others. Examine the behavior. Take in the human carnival. That’s what I’m doing today. It’s fantastic. Grodin, thank you.”
Weatherly’s career reflection clearly struck a chord with his fans, who commented on how they, too, had taken Grodin’s advice to observe people.
“Always the best source of inspiration,” said @EvansNicolina. And it’s a fun and interesting way to k1ll time.”
“As a stage actor, I did exactly this, watched people, everywhere,” wrote @PSBridgebooks. I’d sit and listen to people’s conversations on buses, in lines, in parks, anywhere for improv work. It was extremely beneficial!”
“That’s good advice in general for everyone, not just actors.. people watching,” @GinaEva52289232 added. “Watch and learn.”
While another user, @Carol L Mitch, questioned Weatherly, asking, “Will you be applying new behaviors to your new project(s)? Because we adore the DiNozzo and Bull behavior.”
It comes after the actor teased in a New Year’s message to fans that two fan-favorite characters might be reunited soon as part of a “interesting year” ahead.
Weatherly then responded to a fan’s (@dlrthart) Tweet, saying, “We’d all rather see you and Ziva reuniting and enjoying that moment.” referring to his character’s NCIS co-star.
“Stay tuned… for this could be an interesting year for such’moments,'” the star replied.
Unfortunately, there have been no official updates from CBS regarding the return of Tony and Zina (Cote de Pablo) to NCIS.
Fans will have to wait and see if the pair do make a comeback, or if Weatherly himself posts any more social media updates about his career’s future.
