Cote de Pablo and Mark Harmon are well-known for their roles in the hit CBS procedural NCIS. Cote de Pablo, who left NCIS a few years ago to pursue other opportunities, returned this season as Agent Ziva David.
Her motherly instincts, as well as some new anxieties, came to the surface, despite the fact that she was still the buttkicking former Mossad Agent with compassion and a commitment to what’s right.
Mark Harmon, on the other hand, has remained steadfast in his commitment to the series; he has been with NCIS since the beginning as Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs – the man in charge – and will most likely remain with the show until its conclusion.
Mark Harmon and Cote de Pablo have a father-daughter dynamic on NCIS; they both care deeply about one another and will risk their lives to protect one another.

Cote de Pablo, star of ‘NCIS,’ discusses her relationship with Mark Harmon.
Cote de Pablo spoke with BUILD Series about her return to NCIS and what it was like to return to the show that launched her career all those years ago; more specifically, what it was like to return to the man in charge: Mark Harmon. Cote de Pablo elaborated:
He’s a friend and mentor, [Mark Harmon]. He’s almost like a father figure to me. And, obviously, Ziva and Gibbs have it, but Cote and Mark have a smidgeon of it as well. He’s a very busy, well-known man. And, obviously, there are many months when you don’t talk, but it’s nice to know that — sometimes when you have friendships (and certainly in family) — you can go time without talking. However, you have laid a solid foundation. And from there, you can really go anywhere…

Cote de Pablo explains that she has a relationship with Mark Harmon (and with Michael Weatherly) that she maintains despite the passage of time. They are aware that they care about one another. And, just like their NCIS characters, who hadn’t seen each other in years at the start of the most recent season, the bond never fades, the concern remains, and the love is always present.
Cote de Pablo and Mark Harmon have a ‘forged in fire’ relationship.
Cote de Pablo goes on to say that you’re working on the show “10 months of the year,” filming nonstop. And some days are more difficult than others. You must persevere even if you are not physically capable of doing so.
Cote de Pablo explains that working on NCIS together has resulted in a “forged in fire…intense” it’s relationship between her and Harmon. And, if there is one constant in NCIS, it is that the character dynamics bloom in adversity — the intimacy develops in times of crisis. When everything is lost, the interdependence becomes apparent.
Cote de Pablo and Mark Harmon, like Gibbs and Ziva, worked on a demanding set for years on end. Sweat, tears, and multiple action sequences later, they had formed an unbreakable bond (just like their characters).
