Hudson Joseph Meek, a 16-year-old actor known for his role in Baby Driver, passed away on December 21, two days after sustaining fatal injuries from falling out of a moving car in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
His mother, Lani Wells Meek, broke the terrible news on Facebook, writing, “Hudson’s 16 years were far too short, but he impacted everyone he met.” Hudson’s obituary characterized him as a cherished son, organ donor, and young man of great faith who passed away surrounded by family and friends.
Meek, who played Young Baby in the three-time Oscar-nominated film, also appeared in MacGyver and lent his voice to campaigns for Toys R Us, McDonald’s, and League of Legends. Despite his young age, his talent shone in several upcoming projects set to release in 2025.
Hudson succeeded as a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he participated in football, Honor Choir, and Student Government. By the age of 14, he had become a licensed scuba diver and had toured all 50 states of the United States.
A Celebration of Life is planned for December 30 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, with a livestream available via Instagram and Facebook. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, which will support a Vestavia Hills High School student annually.
Hudson is survived by his mother, father, brother, and extended family. His colorful attitude and accomplishments will leave a lasting impression.
