Dolly Parton’s older brother, David Wilburn Parton, has passed away at the age of 82. His sister, Stella Parton, shared the news on social media on Nov. 15, writing, “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but he got his angel wings and is now at peace.”
Stella referred to David as “sweet David” because of his kindness, loyalty, and soft-spoken personality. He was also a United States Marine. David died quietly at his home in White Pine, Tennessee. His funeral will take place on Tuesday at Leadvale Baptist Church.
David was a retired bridge builder superintendent, working on projects in Kingsport, Johnson City, and Knoxville. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay, their daughters, Donna and Dena, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David was the second oldest of eleven Parton siblings. His surviving siblings include Dolly (78), Stella (75), and others. Randy, his brother, died in 2021 after a battle with cancer, and Dolly openly lamented his loss.
