Abigail Hawk, who plays Detective Abigail Baker on CBS’s Blue Bloods, recently recounted a touching experience from her first day on set with Tom Selleck. In an interview on the Think Big With Michael Zellner podcast, Hawk praised Selleck’s kindness and mentorship, crediting him for her 14-season journey on the show.
Selleck, best renowned for his portrayal of Commissioner Frank Reagan, went out of his way to make Hawk feel at ease, even working with her on scene enhancements.
Her collaborative approach impressed producers, landing her a recurring role. Hawk also mentioned that Selleck pushed her to watch vintage films like High Noon to better understand her character.
As the beloved series prepares to end its 15-season run in Fall 2024, Hawk expressed admiration for Selleck’s enduring passion for the show, dispelling retirement rumors and noting that he seems “more invigorated than ever.”
Despite the cancellation, the cast has voiced disappointment, with Selleck particularly vocal about the show’s popularity and his desire for it to continue.
