Tom Selleck is eyeing new projects after Blue Bloods, which ends this fall with its 14th season. At 79, Selleck is far from retiring and shared with TV Line his thoughts on revisiting the Jesse Stone series. The ninth movie, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, aired in 2015 and left his character ready to start fresh.
Selleck now says he may take over writing a new script, claiming, “It wouldn’t be the final one because everyone loves it. Jesse is a fantastic guy, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is several years later.”
Blue Bloods’ cancellation came as a shock to Selleck and his castmates. Reflecting on the decision, he admitted feeling “frustrated” by CBS’s choice, telling TV Insider, “The show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go.”
His co-stars, Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan, also expressed their thoughts. Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show, Moynahan voiced mixed emotions, characterizing their friendship as “a family on set,” while Wahlberg stated that he was “more upset and sad,” adding that they will miss the individuals behind the scenes the most.
CBS confirmed Blue Bloods’ end last November, with season 14 split into two parts and 18 episodes.
