Abigail Hawk, who plays Detective Abigail Baker on Blue Bloods, recently spoke to HELLO! about the possibility of a spinoff. With the final episodes of Blue Bloods Season 14 airing now and the series finale set for December, Hawk addressed whether the Reagan family might be involved in any future project.
Abigail Hawk confirmed that while there have been discussions about a spinoff, it’s unlikely it would feature the Reagans or the NYPD.
“There was talk of a spin-off happening,” Hawk revealed. “But if it does happen right after our series concludes, it must not include the Reagans or the NYPD at all. It must be situated in Los Angeles, else we will follow a new family.” This means a prospective spinoff would feature a fresh cast and narrative, most likely set in a different city.
The Future of Blue Bloods on CBS
CBS decided Season 14 would be Blue Bloods’ last due to high production costs. The cast even took pay cuts to ensure the series would wrap with one more season. Despite this, Blue Bloods continues to bring in solid ratings, making a spinoff an attractive option for CBS.
So far, information about a potential spinoff is limited. While Paramount Global intimated earlier this year that Blue Bloods could be a spinoff, no definite details have emerged since. Given the show’s distinctive appeal, which revolves around the Reagan family and their lives in New York, a spinoff without them would most likely take a different turn, possibly departing from the CSI and NCIS series formula of location changes.
