Sean Murray, the star of NCIS, and his wife Carrie James are getting divorced after 18 years of marriage. The pair reportedly split up in March 2024, with Carrie citing “irreconcilable differences” as the basis and wanting exclusive physical and joint legal custody of their children.
The Early Days and Engagement
Sean and Carrie first met at a Halloween party in 2004. A whirlwind romance followed, and less than a year later, Sean proposed after they moved in together. Carrie playfully admitted to giving Sean a nudge to pop the question, sharing on The Wedding Dish podcast how she’d asked, “What are we doing? What’s going on?” After a casual proposal at home, the couple became engaged in August 2005.
Wedding and Family
The couple married three months later in a winter ceremony at Lakeside Golf Club in Burbank, California, timed around Thanksgiving to commemorate their annual anniversary. They soon had two children, a daughter Caitlyn in 2007 and a son River in 2010. When they were expecting River, they purchased a home in Southern California and spent ten years renovating it. Sean told People in 2021 that he prioritized “putting roots down” after growing up in a mobile household.
Caitlyn Joins NCIS
In 2019, Caitlyn made her NCIS debut as Teagan Fields. Proud dad Sean celebrated on Instagram, introducing his daughter to fans and expressing his excitement for her role.
Last Anniversary Together
Last November, Sean and Carrie celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary, with Carrie posting nostalgic photos and beautiful remarks on Instagram. “18 years of marriage, and you still open the car door and pull out my chair,” she said, expressing gratitude for their time together and the small actions that made their relationship memorable.
