As the CBS series Blue Bloods prepares to air its final eight episodes, cast members, including Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan), Donnie Wahlberg (Danny Reagan), and Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan-Boyle), gathered for a special event to honor the long-running show.
Selleck revealed that, while the series was originally scheduled for only 10 episodes in its 14th season, its popularity-ranking sixth out of 100-prompted CBS to extend it. However, Selleck expressed disappointment with the show’s cancellation, saying, “We fought it, but CBS felt it was time to wrap it up.”
He hopes viewers appreciate the show’s value as “appointment television,” noting that many fans scheduled their evenings around it. “We became an appointment, and with the advent of recording, it became a way for audiences to enjoy it at their convenience,” he explained.
Each episode’s family dinners were a highlight, as they brought the cast together. “What I miss the most are my friends and actor family. You always hope you’ll see each other again, but it never happens,” Selleck said, highlighting the unique kinship formed during those shared experiences.
