Six years after quitting NCIS, Pauley Perrette has stated that she will “never again” return to acting. Perrette, now 55, has accepted her true self and is pleased with her life outside of Hollywood.
“At this point in my life, I have a deep need for authenticity in everything,” Perrette shared with Hello!. “Being an actor was an escape, but my character didn’t have the problems I was dealing with in real life.”
Perrette started acting in the 1990s and joined NCIS in 2003 as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto. She left the show in 2018. Shortly after, she sent out cryptic tweets about “multiple physical assaults” on set, later confirming that she was “terrified of Harmon” and had no plans to return to the program.
In 2019, she confirmed her decision on Twitter: “No, I am not coming back! Ever! Please stop asking.”
Perrette is grateful for her acting career and says she is ready for the next chapter of her life. “I want to be me all the time, and it takes courage to live authentically, but it’s where I want to be.”
Fans may miss her iconic role, but it’s clear that Perrette is thriving in her post-acting journey.
