Pauley Perrette’s character, Abby Sciuto, had a clear path for returning to the NCIS franchise, but a recent update has now closed off this possibility. Over the years, NCIS has seen many characters depart and some return, but Abby, the original forensic scientist, hasn’t been back since she left in season 15. Although CBS has brought back key members of Gibbs’ team, like Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo, Abby’s return seems less likely now. Despite ongoing discussions about possible comebacks, this new development has ended the most straightforward way for Abby to rejoin the team.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva Cast Update Casts Doubt on Abby’s Return
The return of Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo to the NCIS series created an opportunity for Pauley Perrette’s character, Abby Sciuto, to return via the spinoff “NCIS: Tony & Ziva.” The plot, which has the couple on the run across Europe, would logically require assistance from familiar pals, making Abby an excellent possibility given her suspected position in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, given their previous quarrel, this would have been Perrette’s shortest path back to the series, avoiding the risk of working with Mark Harmon.
However, with the full cast for “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” now revealed, this possibility seems unlikely. The new team includes Maximilian Osinski as Boris, a Russian ex-pat and computer hacker, filling the role Abby might have occupied in Tony and Ziva’s European escapades. This effectively closes the door on Abby’s potential return through this spinoff.
How Abby Could Still Reunite with Tony & Ziva in Their NCIS Spinoff
Abby might potentially reconcile with Tony and Ziva in their NCIS spinoff provided she uses her computer abilities and forensic ability to help the couple identify their targets. While she is unlikely to have a permanent position or lab like she did at Navy Yard, a guest appearance would be a nice return for her character.

I am beginning to think that as they lose more and more characters that made the show number one for so many years, it will slowly disappear and the actors will move on to other things and to the fans of the past 22 years there’s nothing they do That will compare to NCIS. We will forever remember the main crew. We except that it is over when people really die like “Ducky” 😢. None of us will ever forget Gibbs, Abby, Tony, McGee and Ziva. They will still put on a good show somewhere to me and many other fans. They will just be the NCIS crew and sadly missed. I wish them well whatever they do and love them everyone🤗❤️
I am very disappointed in this development! You guys have missed the boat entirely! Abby was a very important character in NCIS and this is the best you can offer?! All you can offer is a change, not an important piece of the puzzle! Your choice disgusts me to say the least.

I agree with you. She needs to be back on the NCIS..not put on some other show that has nothing to do with the original NCIS.
Not having Abby is like not having the meat on a hamburger! You have to find a way to reintroduce Abby to the younger generation as I am sure that they will adore her character as much as us older great fans of the original show. The latest version of NCIS is lame without Abby. Please, please, please, find a way.
I also agree with those above who favor Abby returning to NCIS in one way or another … she was special and she really did do a lot to “make” the show a favorite of a whole lot of people! Bring her back please!
I have been a fan for years and I have liked all the NCIS spin-offs some more than others. I thought it was genius to put a character from the Los Angeles on the Hawaii version they were great story lines. The newest Sydney was just quirky enough to grab my attention and was looking forward to see if they were going to incorporate any other older agents from LA or Nola to bring them along. I do agree that Abby, Tony And Ziva are great characters but they need to have believable story lines or they too will fizzle. We have seen so many flash backs us from the early years with Gibbs that I don’t think this new origins is going to cut it especially as the person that is now portrayed by no Harmony son but someone shoes facial features are so unbelievable as a young Gibbs. But I will like all the other spin-offs check it out. It may be at least entertaining depending on the storyline,
