CBS has decided to cancel “NCIS: Hawai’i” after its current third season, making its May 6 finale the series finale.
As the fourth installment in the “NCIS” franchise, “Hawaii” joins predecessors “NCIS: New Orleans” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” in wrapping up after seven and fourteen seasons, respectively.
Despite this setback, the franchise remains robust. The flagship “NCIS” series recently earned a renewal, with CBS also developing a prequel centered on a young Jethro Leroy Gibbs. Additionally, Paramount+ is gearing up for a spinoff featuring fan-favorites Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, while “NCIS: Sydney” secures its return for a second season.
Vanessa Lachey starred in “NCIS: Hawai’i” as Jane Tennant, the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor. The drama addressed high-stakes cr1mes in the sun-drenched paradise of Hawai’i, with a strong ensemble including LL Cool J making recurring appearances.
While CBS has renewed most of its scripted lineup, recent cancellations include “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd.” This news follows earlier announcements of the impending conclusions of “Young Sheldon,” “Bob Hearts Abishola,” and “Blue Bloods.”
Despite its discontinuation, “NCIS: Hawaii” left a legacy of engaging storyline and unforgettable characters.
