Perhaps Gibbs will finally show up.
Fornell is one of NCIS’ most noteworthy recurring guest stars. He began as an FBI agent who worked alongside Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his squad. The pair’s friendship blossomed over time and through a succession of tragedies, so it’s unfortunate that Fornell was unable to properly say goodbye when Gibbs retired. However, it’s unclear whether his role in Vance’s upcoming predicament in NCIS season 21 would pave the road for his friend’s return to DC, given Gibbs’ absence in Ducky’s farewell episode.
Given that Fornell has long since departed the force, it’s unclear how he is connected to Vance’s case.
Given that Fornell has long since departed the force, it’s unclear how he is connected to Vance’s case. Having said that, his FBI ties may prove useful. Otherwise, he might fill in for Gibbs if Harmon fails to arrive again. Aside from the NCIS’ old team commander, other characters may still be involved. Michael Weatherly just reprised his role as Tony DiNozzo, and perhaps his next appearance will include Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David.
Given that NCIS’s 1000th episode contains all of its other popular spinoffs, it may make more sense to recognize the episode that started it all. In light of this, it’s only fitting that it stars an original cast member. It’s worth mentioning that Tim McGee and Jimmy Palmer appeared in the first season but were not part of the initial cast. This left CBS with only Harmon, Weatherly, and Pauley Perrette (who played Abby Sciuto) as alternatives.
