What Will Pauley Perrette Do Now That She’s Retired in 2022..?

Pauley Perrette was a fixture on television for 15 years as NCIS’s feisty goth, Abby Sciuto. She appeared on every single episode of the CBS cr1me drama until her departure in 2018.

But, just a few years later, the 53-year-old New Orleans native decided to retire from acting and announced her retirement. So, where is Pauley Perrette these days? And what made her decide to leave Hollywood? We have the solutions for you.

Pauley Perrette is best known for her role on ‘NCIS’ as Abby Sciuto.

NCIS, which is now in its 18th season, has been a smash hit since it first aired in 2003. Pauley Perrette, along with Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, and Sean Murray, was a founding member of the show, appearing in the pilot and every episode for the next 15 seasons.

Perrette portrayed the eccentric forensic scientist Abby Sciuto, who was truly one-of-a-kind. While she dressed alternative-goth, her personality was the polar opposite of dark and moody.

“[NCIS creator Don Bellisario] wanted to take an alternative-style person with tattoos and make her someone who is happy, totally put together, and successful,” Perrette said of Abby in a BuddyTV interview in 2007.

“All the script said about her was that she had black hair, was caffeinated, and was smart… She has no idea that anyone thinks she looks strange. She thinks she’s beautiful and never calls herself anything but happy.”

Perrette frequently spoke in interviews about how much she loved and respected the character of Abby Sciuto, which is probably why she played her for so long.

“I’m the biggest Abby Sciuto fan on planet Earth,” she told the Blade in 2011. “I mean, I didn’t make her up. I simply have the privilege of portraying her. “She captivates me.”

Why Did Pauley Perrette Leave “NCIS” in 2018?

Unfortunately, Perrette’s love for Abby Sciuto was no longer sufficient to keep her working on the show. Her departure was reportedly triggered by a 2016 spat with co-star and executive producer Mark Harmon over a dog bite.

According to the story, Harmon continued to bring his dog to work despite the fact that the animal had (allegedly) bitten a crew member severely enough to necessitate stitches. Many cast and crew members were terrified, so Perrette confronted Harmon about having his dog on set—and the conversation did not go well. According to sources, the confrontation caused a permanent schism in the actors’ relationship, to the point where the pair never acted together in another scene again.

When Perrette left the show two years later, she added fuel to the fire by tweeting, “NO I AM NOT COMING BACK! EVER! (Would you please stop asking?)” Perrette penned. “I am terrified of Harmon and his assault on me.” It gives me nightmares.”

“You think I didn’t expect backlash?” she continued. You misunderstood me. THIS happened to a member of my crew, and I fought like hell to prevent it from happening again! To keep my crew safe! And then I was assaulted physically for saying NO!? I also lost my job.”

Unsurprisingly, the tweets sparked a firestorm. CBS even released a statement about the incident, saying, “Pauley Perrette had a fantastic run on N.C.I.S. and we are all going to miss her.” Pauley approached us about a year ago with a workplace issue. We took the situation seriously and collaborated with her to find a solution. On all of our shows, we are committed to providing a safe working environment.”

Though Perrette never elaborated on her remarks about Harmon, it’s clear that something terrible occurred on the NCIS set. “And there are things SO RACIST and SO MISOGYNISTIC and SO HOMOPHOBIC and cruel that were said on set at that show that I have never spoken of because the language is SO HURTFUL,” she tweeted in 2020. And you were wondering why I left? Those producers are still working. They’re all of them. That includes HIM.”

Many people assumed Perrette was referring to Harmon, but we don’t know for sure. In any case, it appears that Perrette’s final few years on NCIS were anything but peaceful.

She appeared in the 2020 film ‘Broke.’

Perrette will return to television in April 2020 on the sitcom Broke. The show, which also starred Jaime Camil, Natasha Leggero, Izzy Diaz, and Antonio Raul Corbo, was about a single mom (Perrette) who takes in her once-wealthy sister and in-laws.

While the show was a flop (only 13 episodes aired and it was canceled after one season), Perrette says working on the sitcom was one of the best things that ever happened to her, especially after what she went through on the NCIS set. “This show restored my faith in people, in this industry,” the actress tweeted. I am so grateful to have worked with this cast and crew. The best team I’ve ever worked with. I was healed. It transformed me. Completed me. So fortunate.”

She has officially announced that she will retire from acting in October 2020.

Despite having a positive experience on the set of Broke, Perrette decided to end her career as an actor, much to the dismay of her many fans. The former actress announced her retirement in July of last year, tweeting, “I’m HAPPYLY RETIRED! Finally! Woot! All I ever desired!”

She also stated that she had planned to retire after leaving NCIS, but couldn’t pass up the role on Broke. “I actually retired after NCIS, but BROKE was significant and beautiful.” I finished my last dance and am very proud of it! Everyone who knows me knew I was going to retire soon. I’m pleased with my work. I adore you two! “I AM FREE!!! (To be the tiny, simple human that I am!)”

Perrette announced her retirement a few months later in an excited tweet about changing up her look.

“DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS NOW A LEGAL AND SAFE WAY TO GET A FREAKING #TATTOO AND #PIERCING IN #LOSANGELES?” She penned a letter. “I’m finally (after over four decades!!!) unattached to a studio, record label, or modeling agency and can do WHATEVER I WANT!” I NEED NEW TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS!”

Perrette then proudly asserted her former status as an actress. “I’ve finally and joyfully retired!” And this is what I was hoping for!!! My new life rule is “if my #rescuedogs don’t care, it’s cool!” Now I only answer to God, animals, and plants. WOOT!!!”

In 2022, what is Pauley Perrette doing?

The former Abby Sciuto is clearly enjoying her retirement and communicates frequently with her fans via her Twitter feed. She spends a lot of time with her rescue dogs and recently debuted a cool tie-dye hairstyle.
