NCIS LA fans rejoiced on social media after a fan favorite made a long-awaited return.
The highly anticipated three-way crossover of CBS’ hit procedural drama NCIS LA returned to screens. Though fans were excited to see the team take on new cr1m1nal cases, they quickly took to social media after a key character made a surprise appearance.
For the first time, agents from NCIS, NCIS Hawaii, and NCIS Los Angeles collaborated to solve a murd3r conspiracy during Monday’s crossover.
The teams had gathered for a retirement party for a beloved FLETC instructor, only to learn of his untimely d3ath.
Their investigation resulted in a stunning kidnapping of Agent Devin Rountree (Caleb Castille) and Kilbride (Gerald McRaney).
As the teams worked together to find their kidnapped friends, they discovered a crucial audio message from a familiar voice.
Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) both received cryptic text messages during the NCIS LA episode.
When they assembled it, it revealed an audio message from fan favorite Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt).
“Sounds like you’ve got yourself in a bit of a pickle, I warned Hollis that his Simon Williams days would come back to bite him in the a**,” Hetty observed.
“You are all quite capable, and it is not for me to tell you what to do,” she continued. “However, you might want to get in touch with an old friend, Gwen Johns…”
Fans were taken aback by Hetty’s unexpected return, and many expressed their delight on social media.
“Loved the crossover, but we needed more Hetty,” tweeted @novamae_. I miss Linda so much… please bring her back before the end of the summer season.”
“You never know when Hetty pops up,” @Dueler312 added. Fortunately, she is still alive. “I wonder where she is?”
“The way the score swells when the team recognizes Hetty’s voice is so special,” @shelbbs247 observed.
@jnweaver24, a fourth fan, tweeted: “HETTY!!!! I honestly miss her so much! But could she please return for good so that Callen and Anna can marry? Please??”

During the audio, Hetty mentioned that Alden (Gary Cole) owed her $600 for the “Monaco fiasco,” but went on to assist her team.
The agents were successful in locating a Hollywood casting agent who had previously assisted Kilbride in finding someone to double as an admiral.
They were able to use the same actor to entice the cr1m1nals to leave the boathouse and apprehend them.
As a result, the NCIS team was directed to a remote airfield where Roundtree and Kilbride were detained.
Hetty made an audible return, but her physical return to the screen has yet to be confirmed.
