NCIS LA star Eric Christian Olsen is ‘Overwhelmed’ As He Announces His Next Project Following the Show’s Cancellation

CBS announced earlier this year that NCIS Los Angeles would be ending in a few months.

NCIS Los Angeles was the first spin-off to follow the success of CBS’s original NCIS drama. The police procedural has had a devoted following for 14 years, but it is time to say goodbye to the team of beloved agents, as the show has been cancelled. Nonetheless, the cast must look ahead, with some already revealing what they have planned.

Agent Marty Deeks (played by Eric Christian Olsen) was a recurring character on NCIS Los Angeles during the first season before joining the main cast in season two.

He has become a fan favorite among viewers who have enjoyed his sweet, funny personality as well as his blossoming romance with Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah).

The coworkers married in season 10 and began fostering refugee Rosa Reyes (Natalia Del Riego) in season 13, so it’s been fascinating to watch their story unfold over the years.

However, it is the beginning of the end, as CBS announced last month that NCIS Los Angeles would be cancelled after season 14.

While the final season of NCIS LA is on hiatus, the cast has begun to discuss their futures away from the show.

Eric Christian Olsen, star of Deeks, has been revealed as an executive producer on the upcoming reboot of the 1980s legal drama Matlock.

The original drama starring Andy Griffith in the lead role as Matlock, ran for nine seasons, first on NBC and later on ABC.

The main character in the new series will be renamed Madeline Matlock and played by Misery actress Kathy Bates.

Along with Jennie Snyder Urman, Joanna Klein, and NCIS LA’s Olsen, the 74-year-old will serve as executive producer.

“So overwhelmed with excitement to be partnering with these creative superstars,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Jennie, Joanna, Sierra, Bethany, Kathy, Kat, Anna, Meagen, John, our @cbstvstudios and @cbstv LFG partners!!!!”

Fans of the 45-year-work old’s were ecstatic to learn what he would be working on next.

“Can’t tell you how proud and excited I am for you in this new venture,” @Kmacc48 said.

“As sad as I am that NCISLA is coming to an end, I am excited for the next stage.”

@Johnscottmills concurred: “Congratulations, buddy. It’s going to be fantastic!” “OMG this is HUGE,” said @Tamis.heroes.ncisla. Congratulations to the entire Cloud Nine team. Eric, I am extremely proud of you.”

On-screen wife and sister-in-law of Elizabeth Olsen Ruah added, “CRUSHING IT! “I am extremely proud of my brother!”

Madeline Matlock will return to a prestigious law firm in the Matlock reboot, where she will use her “unassuming demeanor and “wily tactics” to win cases and expose corruption.

It is one of CBS’s first drama pilot announcements for the 2023-24 season.

Elsbeth is a spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight that stars Carrie Preston as attorney Elsbeth Tascioni.
