Linda Hunt, best known for her role as Operations Manager Hetty Lange on “NCIS,” lives in a refurbished 1919 home with her partner of 43 years. Explore the lovely mansion and learn about Hunt’s life and profession.
Linda Hunt is a theater and movie actress from the United States. She was born on April 2, 1945, in Morristown, New Jersey, to Raymond Davy Hunt and Elsie Doying Hunt.
Raymond worked as the vice president of Harper Fuel Oil, and Elsie taught piano. In Westport, Connecticut, she taught at the Westport School of Music and sang with the Saugatuck Congregational Church Choir.
Linda grew up in Westport. Marcia, her older sister, was born five years before she was. She attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago’s Goodman School of Drama, now known as DePaul University.
Linda’s acting credits include roles in theater, cinema, television, and voice work. She was a well-known theater actress before breaking into film and television.
She made her Broadway debut in a staging of “Ah, Wilderness” in 1975. She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in the 1984 play “End of the World.”
Off-Broadway credits include “Top Girls and a Metamorphosis in Miniature,” “Aunt Dan and Lemon,” “Doubt,” “Mother Courage and Her Children,” and “Top Gun.”
Linda made her film debut in 1980 with the musical comedy “Popeye.” She starred as Billy Kwan in “The Year of Living Dangerously” in 1982.
She starred in the film as a male character and received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1983. As a result, she became the first person to get an Oscar for portraying a role of the opposite gender.
Linda also appeared in the 1984 picture “Dune,” 1989’s “She-Devil,” and 1990’s “Kindergarten Cop,” in which she co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
She has appeared in several television shows, including “The Practice,” “Without a Trace,” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” where she plays Operations Manager Henrietta Lange.
Linda has a husky voice and has narrated a number of documentaries, commercials, and animated shorts. Her most notable voice-over roles are Grandmother Willow in “Pocahontas” and narrating the “God of War” video game series.
Linda is well-known for her petite stature. She was diagnosed with hypopituitary dwarfism as a teen and stands four feet and nine inches tall.
Linda reportedly admitted that her classmates made fun of her height all the time. Everyone, she revealed, either wanted to take care of her or push her around.
Despite being bullied at school due to her height, Linda’s loving family was always there for her and kept her going. She previously stated that she was fortunate that her parents supported her on all levels.
While much is known about Linda’s professional life, less is known about her personal life. Many people have asked if she is married because they know so little about her personal life.
The actress, on the other hand, is a married woman. Since 1978, she has been in a partnership with Karen Kline, a retired psychotherapist. The couple married in 2008, 20 years after they initially met.
Linda and Kline allegedly do not have children, but they do share their pet dogs, which the actress previously discussed in a 2016 interview.
Linda and Kline reside with their dogs in a Hollywood Craftsman home, a 1919 bungalow. They welcomed the Los Angeles Times into the magnificent property in 2014. Linda told the tabloid that they bought the house with the intention of renovating it. She stated:
“This house exudes playfulness and a certain elegance. It’s friendly.”
Linda and Klein’s living area contains star-shaped light fixtures and a cozy blend of vintage furnishings. An old chair with wooden armrests carved in the shape of dog heads is also featured in the living area.
The property has a 200-square-foot sunroom that feels like an airy alcove, with dramatic Designers Guild wallpaper portraying complicated topiary trees, clerestory windows, and vaulted ceilings that let in natural light.
The exterior of the sunroom features gray board-and-batten siding and a saltbox pitched roof, which is common in New England, where Linda and her wife grew up.
The central hallway was relocated south as part of the house modifications. This resulted in an extra three feet of room in the corridor.
A bedroom off the living room was converted into a den and library that can also be used as a guest room. The house’s modifications also enabled it to have a circular walkway.
The walls of the house’s master bathroom are lavender. Filmore Clark’s watercolor-colored tiles are also featured. Meanwhile, the eating area has a straightforward style.
The kitchen in the house is decorated in a variety of hues. The cabinets were repainted in a pleasant neutral tone, and the doors and windows were trimmed in New England blue.
Throughout her life, Linda has learned to deal with setbacks, sorrow, and even success. One of the obstacles she experienced in her life occurred in March 2018, when she was hospitalized following a car accident.
She was driving a black BMW SUV when she made a left turn and collided into a sedan before crashing with a Honda SUV. After the crash, Linda was extremely upset, and witnesses had to assist her to a lawn chair on the sidewalk.
Linda had to be transferred to the hospital after paramedics evaluated her. Meanwhile, the drivers of the two other vehicles were only slightly hurt.
Linda issued a statement during her hospitalization, saying that she was healing and had suffered no significant injuries in the incident. She also expressed gratitude to everyone for their well wishes.
Linda recovered swiftly from the collision and continued filming “NCIS.” She is undeniably a strong woman who has never let setbacks dictate her life’s destiny.
Nothing makes the 76-year-old happier than spending time with her 70-year-old spouse in their gorgeous home with their adorable dogs. Of all, such kind of image is entirely appropriate for the woman known as Linda.
