Eric Christian Olsen, who played Marty Deeks on NCIS: Los Angeles, has scored a huge new role after leaving CBS’ procedural series.

While Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) continues to appear on the NCIS spin-off series, the actor has announced a huge new role at CBS. While fans praised the actor, many worried what this meant for his character on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Eric announced on Instagram that he would be leaving the NCIS franchise to feature in an entirely different CBS series. He captioned a screenshot of the D3adline report, “Aaaaaaaaalright, who wants to relocate to Miami?”

“Let’s get this party started!” Congratulations to @jameshanlonnyc and @cotovino for their hard work and devotion. “Thank you for being the best creative partners ever, @cbstvstudios,” he said.

Many followers congratulated him and expressed their excitement in his comments, including Nadine, who wrote: “Congratulations Mr Olsen, this is amazing news.”

Eric is scheduled to star in CBS’s only first responders series, Rescue: MIA, although important information about the show have yet to be revealed.

Despite this, D3adline said that the show would feature a “famous family of first responders who labor together to rescue the inhabitants of Miami from emergencies and disasters, even as long-buried secrets threaten to tear their familial relationships apart.”

This is a huge step forward for CBS, which was the only major network without a successful first-responders series.

Despite the fact that it has a long list of procedural dramas such as NCIS, SWAT, and Blue Bloods.

Eric will be producing the series, therefore it remains to be seen if he will also star as a character.

Because the series is still in development at the network, the showrunners have kept details about who will be joining the cast under wraps.

Other fans chimed in on the actor’s Instagram, writing, “Congratulations Eric, your star just keeps growing and rising, happiness is in the journey.”

“Congratulations!” said Iris. Coming from a family of Miami first responders, I can’t wait to see what happens!!”

“I’m going to be selfish here, is Deeks leaving?” Marci pondered. If that’s the case, I’ll be crying all weekend.”

This was an excellent question because Eric’s character Marty Deeks first appeared on NCIS LA in season one, which aired in 2009.

He began his career as a Los Angeles Police Department Detective, working as the team’s LAPD liaison.

However, he was promoted to NCIS investigator and joined the NCIS: Office of Special Projects squad.

Although nothing has been revealed about Marty possibly quitting NCIS, the actor is currently working on Rescue: MIA.

In fact, it appears that Eric will have to balance both roles, as NCIS creator R.Scott Gemmill warned that the latest episode of the show could delve deeper into Marty’s past.

“We haven’t really resolved on what we want to accomplish yet,” he told TV Line.

“And now that we’ve waited this long, it feels a lot more pushed to accomplish it in such a way that the fans feel like the wait was worthwhile.”

Fans will have to keep watching NCIS: Los Angeles to find out what happens to Marty.
