Donnie Wahlberg has established two new cop dramas with CBS, proving that his talents aren’t limited to the small screen.

Although he has been playing Danny Reagan since 2010, actor Donnie Wahlberg is now looking forward to “exciting” new projects. The Blue Bloods actor and singer has collaborated with the minds behind Halo and NCIS to executive produce a number of new shows for CBS.

CBS is planning two new cop dramas, with Wahlberg serving as executive producer.

The New Kids on the Block star has teamed up with Halo writer Steven Kane and NCIS writer Chad Gomez Creasey for the new shows, which were announced on December 5.

Wahlberg will work on the new drama Samaritan alongside Kane, with additional story written by Creasey.

According to Deadline, the synopsis for Samaritan is as follows: “After discovering a ‘glitch’ in an app that notifies her of cr1mes and emergencies before they happen, a young hustler teams up with a grizzled detective to prevent the tragedies from ever happening.”

In addition, Wahlberg and Creasey will appear in the second cop drama Harbor Blue.

“A team of adrenaline junkies form the NYPD Harbor Unit, tasked with securing and policing the 576 miles of treacherous waterfront surrounding all five boroughs, delivering justice to cr1minals on and off the water,” according to the plot of the second cop drama.

Creasey is no stranger to working on CBS’ biggest dramas, having previously served as co-executive producer on NCIS and the now-cancelled NCIS New Orleans.

Kane co-created Halo for Paramount+ and served as showrunner on The Last Ship, a TNT thriller.

Wahlberg hasn’t said whether his new work commitments will impact his time on Blue Bloods.

He did, however, take to Instagram to inform his 1.7 million followers of the news.

Wahlberg captioned a link to the article he shared on his Instagram stories, “Exciting news!!!”

Fans quickly shared their own messages of excitement and congratulated the actor on his new accomplishment.

@megspptc wrote on Twitter, “These sound fantastic way to go @DonnieWahlberg #HardestWorkingManInTheeBusiness.”

“Good things are coming your way professionally, @DonnieWahlberg,” @GeekBrenda said. “I’m delighted for you.”

Donna Marie chimed in, “Cannot wait @DonnieWahlberg,” while Farris Hopkins typed, “DONNIE DUBS!”

Because the projects are still in development at CBS, release dates and casts have yet to be announced.

However, Wahlberg will return to Blue Bloods season 13 opposite Tom Selleck on Friday.

The next episode, Poetic Justice, will air on CBS on Friday, December 9, before the show goes on hiatus for the winter.

Fans of Blue Bloods will have to wait until January 6 for the Reagans to return.
